tolstoy

I'm currently reading Tolstoy's Confesion. I know it sounds really impressive, but its an easy read. I'm only about half-way through the book so maybe this post is premature...

Tolstoy's thoughts on doubt and disbelief ressonate with my own thinking at the moment. Every avenue of searching he goes through leads to a dead end. He finds no answers and his own modes of thinking prove to be insufficient. This leads Tolstoy to the conclusion that life is meaningless and he thinks about suicide often. Fortunately, I am not to that point, but Tolstoy's searching is interesting to me nonetheless. Maybe because he seems to come to no conclusion. There is mystery in the unknown and something strangely attractive about that. Maybe because I too have come to little conclusion. In my own life, the mystery provides little comfort.

Dear Leo,
End your book with a good conclusion please. I'll be your best friend.
Love,
Robert
